As a partner in the firm’s Professional Liability Litigation Department, Susan’s practice concentrates on defending lawyers, architects, and engineers in a variety of matters, including defense of civil malpractice claims and disciplinary proceedings.  Susan also has extensive experience representing trampoline and adventure parks in response to negligence claims; broker-dealers in FINRA arbitration matters; and other defendants in personal injury and product liability matters.

  • Successfully obtained a Suffolk County Superior Court defense verdict after a jury trial that extended three weeks. The case involved legal malpractice claims against a law firm and one of its former partners by a former divorce client who sought nearly $2 million in damages based on claims that the lawyer had negotiated and recommended an unfair settlement arrangement with her ex-husband.
  • Represented securities broker-dealer in five related FINRA arbitration matters arising from a rogue member’s Ponzi scheme, culminating with a 3-day hearing in one matter and successful resolution of remaining four matters.
  • Successfully argued before the Massachusetts Appeals Court on behalf of several lawyers that a plaintiff’s claim for intentional infliction of emotional distress should have been dismissed pursuant to M.G.L. c. 231, § 59H, anti-SLAPP statute.
