George A. Berman


George A. Berman represents professionals, including attorneys, officers/directors and accountants in a variety of matters, including defense of malpractice claims. He has substantial trial and appellate experience in these areas in both federal and Massachusetts courts and before administrative agencies. He has been involved in many significant appellate decisions dealing with issues in professional liability, insurance coverage and constitutional law.

Mr. Berman is experienced in the efficient management of lawsuits ranging in complexity from simple contract actions to large, multi-party litigations involving complicated legal issues and highly technical factual inquiries. As panel counsel to the Massachusetts Bar Association Malpractice Program and to other professional liability carriers, Mr. Berman has represented over 500 lawyers and law firms in his career, ranging from solo practitioners to judges and Boston's largest law firms. He writes and lectures frequently to bar and professional groups.

Mr. Berman is a former chairperson of the Board of Bar Overseers, appointed to that position by the Supreme Judicial Court.  He was named Best Lawyers’ “2011 Insurance Lawyer of the Year” and “2012 Legal Malpractice Defense Lawyer of the Year.”  Mr. Berman has been consistently selected by  Boston Magazine as one of the “Top 100 Lawyers” in Massachusetts and New England and as a “Super Lawyer” in the field of professional liability defense.
